Billionaire Bill Ackman donated thousands of dollars to a GoFundMe for the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent who fatally shot Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis last week.

On the donation page set up for Jonathan Ross, a top donation of $10,000 is listed under William Ackman, who was identified as the ICE officer officials said “fired defensive shots” at Good, who was part of an “ICE Watch” network.

“After seeing all the media bs about a domestic terrorist getting go fund me. I feel that the officer that was 1000 percent justified in the shooting deserves to have a go fund me. Funds will go to help him,” the GoFundMe page states.

Ackman confirmed his donation in a social media post, adding that he also intended to support the GoFundMe for Good’s family, but the window for donations had already closed.

“I am big believer in our legal principal [sic] that one is innocent until proven guilty. To that end, I supported the @gofundme for Jonathan Ross and intended to similarly support the gofundme for Renee Good’s family (her gofundme was closed by the time I attempted to provide support),” Ackman wrote on X.

Donations supporting Good’s wife and children were paused after it received more than $1.5 million in donations.

“The whole situation is a tragedy. An officer doing his best to do his job, and a protester who likely did not intend to kill the officer but whose actions in a split second led to her death. Our country is stronger if we work together to resolve the complex issues that are tearing us apart,” Ackman continued.

The shooting occurred during what federal officials describe as an active ICE operation. According to investigators, Good was inside an SUV when Ross fired his weapon. Good died at the scene.

Administration officials have characterized the incident as a dangerous encounter involving an allegedly obstructed law enforcement operation. Speaking on Thursday, Vice President JD Vance said Good was attempting to interfere with federal officers and framed her death as the result of escalating hostility toward law enforcement.

New video of the deadly shooting released on Friday shows the agent’s perspective and led to further debate about who was actually at fault.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and other Democrats have strongly disputed the government claims, saying the agent was “recklessly using his power that resulted in somebody dying.”

Frey held a news conference on Friday to demand a fair investigation into the ICE shooting.

The investigation into the deadly shooting was taken over by the FBI on Thursday, sidelining state authorities and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA).
