OAKLAND, Calif. (TNND) — A California man who has been arrested for the fatal beating of a woman allegedly told police officers he was “not fit for society.”
Jeffrey McMaster Jr., 44, was arrested on Feb. 2 for a homicide in Oakland, according to the Oakland Police Department.
Police officers found the woman around 11 a.m. in the San Pablo Avenue area with major trauma to the head. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
A security video captured McMaster’s alleged beating, and he was found with blood on his hands after walking back to his apartment unit, according to KTVU. News outlets report that he lived at the residential hotel.
According to California’s Megan’s Law database, McMaster was convicted in 2009 for assault with intent to commit rape and was required to register as a sex offender. On the registry, McMaster’s last reported address was on San Pablo Avenue in Oakland.
In court records that the Bay Area News Group reviewed, McMaster allegedly told the police following his arrest in 2008, “I am not fit for society if I keep doing s*** like this.”
