College Football Is Finally Back

After a long off-season, it’s finally College Football Week. I know that we technically had some games for Week 0 yesterday, but the real deal is here on Saturday.

My family has typically joined my in-laws for Saturdays for board games and a cookout during the college football season, so it’ll be nice to return to that great American tradition. This year, being based in Texas, we’re bound to see nothing but political ads every second of every commercial.

Last year, every commercial break for every game imaginable, viewers in Texas were inundated with political ads aimed at aiding a flopping John Cornyn ahead of the primaries. Occasionally, you’d even see multiple ads per commercial break trying to tell you that Cornyn was some sort of MAGA patriot who was deeply aligned with President Donald Trump. That was during a primary…imagine the cadence during the general.

If I’m thankful for anything, it’s that I won’t be spoon-fed videos of Cornyn in his obligatory election cycle cowboy hat and boots. Instead, I’ll be forced to watch the same generic AI-generated ads that every PAC and campaign in America has started producing to save on production costs.

It’s a small price to pay if it sends patriots to Washington though.
