NBC News’ Today show host Craig Melvin won’t be going to Milan to cover the 2026 Winter Olympics as the search for his co-star Savannah Gurthie’s mom continues.

Melvin was supposed to cover the Olympics in Italy from Feb. 7-9, but it was announced he would be staying in the U.S., according to the Daily Mail.

The new Olympic host will be Ahmed Fareed, according to NBC News.

Gurthie’s mother disappeared from her home in Tucson, Arizona. Investigators believe the 84-year-old was taken against her will.

As of now there is no suspect or person of interest identified.

On Wednesday, Gurthie put out a video on Instagram with her siblings where she thanked everyone for their prayers.

“On behalf of our family, we want to thank all of you for the prayers for our beloved mom, Nancy,” she said in the video.

“We feel them, and we continue to believe that she feels them too.”

She also pleaded for her mother to be returned home.

“We need to know, without a doubt, that she is alive, and that you have her,” Guthrie said. “We want to hear from you, and we are ready to listen. Please, reach out to us.”
