Five Disneyland employees were hospitalized on Tuesday afternoon after an odor located in a backstage area in the park caused them to become short of breath and dizzy.

The Anaheim fire officials responded to the park at 12:30 p.m. after a report of an unknown smell. The odor came from the Tomorrowland section of the park, according to the Anaheim Police Department Sgt. Matt Sutter.

Initially, four employees were taken to the hospital for minor injuries, which Disneyland officials updated to five hospitalizations.

Several other employees were also treated by paramedics in the park.

According to Disneyland officials, building materials that were used by a contractor in the backstage area created a reaction that led to the spread of the odor.
