WASHINGTON (TNND) — Former talk show host Ellen DeGeneres said that she is proud of the protesters in Minneapolis, Minnesota as anti-Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) protests ramp up in the state.
She said her thoughts and prayers are with those protesting in the state, adding that she filmed her 2024 Netflix special in Minneapolis because of how much she loved the city.
More anti-ICE protests have been ramping up in Minnesota following after ICE agent Jonathan Ross fatally shot Renee Good during an immigration crackdown in the state.
A spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security said that Ross shot Good because she tried to run him over with her car. The FBI is leading an investigation into what happened.
Some comments on DeGeneres’s post criticized her for her statement.
“Not your country anymore,” one user wrote.
DeGeneres left the U.S. following the 2024 election and moved to England.
