A high-speed chase in Kitsap County ended dramatically when a stolen car crashed into a freeway overpass after a deputy executed a precision intervention technique (PIT maneuver) on Monday.

The incident unfolded shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Jan. 5, when the car’s owner reported to 911 that his estranged wife had stolen the vehicle and was spotted with a friend at the Suquamish casino.

Bainbridge Island and Suquamish Tribal Police, along with Kitsap County Sheriff’s Deputies, arrived at the scene. Despite the deputy activating lights and sirens, the driver refused to stop and accelerated, starting a pursuit.

The chase continued until deputies successfully executed the PIT maneuver, causing the car to crash.

The two women inside the vehicle initially refused to exit, leading officers to deploy a pepper ball launcher to gain compliance. Both women eventually surrendered and were taken into custody.
