FBI Director Kash Patel on Monday touted a massive fentanyl bust in Georgia, arresting 55 people for their alleged involvement in moving the drug.

“Breaking the drug trafficking and criminal networks all across the country,” he wrote on X.

“We delivered a record year in 2025 and we’re not slowing down.”

The FBI Division in Atlanta said that 55 out of the 56 indicted in a major drug trafficking case were taken into custody.

The drug trafficking case reportedly took place on St. Simons Island and Glynn County, according to CBS News.

“This morning, FBI Atlanta, along with our federal, state and local partners, made a significant effort to crush violent crime here in the Glynn County community,” a special agent in charge of the FBI in Atlanta said in a statement.

Brian Ozden, the assistant special agent, said that the goal is to dismantle criminal enterprises.

“Our goal is not just to put people in handcuffs for a few days, but to build cases that dismantle criminal enterprises and keep our communities safe for the long term,” he said during a press conference.

The arrests were targeted a drug trafficking organization of moving drugs like cocaine, fentanyl, crack and marijuana throughout Georgia.

Local police departments also worked with the FBI on the case.

Brunswick Police Chief Angela Smith praised the agencies working together to bust the organization.

“Citizens have asked, ‘What are we going to do about crime?'” Smith said. “This operation is indicative of the work being done. Residents and visitors deserve to feel safe, and we will continue to dismantle criminal elements in our community.”
