Florida GOP Sen. Rick Scott predicted that the government of Cuba would be overthrown either this year or next year.

“I think it will probably happen maybe this year, maybe next year,” Scott said, The Hill newspaper reports.

“It’s going to happen. I thought Maduro would be out by Christmas. It took a little bit longer.”

He said there would be democracy in the future.

Scott predicted that Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez’s regime would be falling.

“It’s going to be the end of the Díaz-Canel regime, the Castro regime, it’s going to happen,” Scott said, according to The Hill newspaper. “We’re in the process of it happening now.”

President Donald Trump predicted Cuba would fall, following the U.S. Army capturing Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro earlier this month.

Maduro was charged with Cocaine Importation Conspiracy, Possession of Machine guns and Destructive Devices, Narco-Terrorism Conspiracy and Conspiracy to Possess Machine guns and Destructive Devices against the United States.

He pleaded not guilty to all charges. He and his wife are currently in a prison in Brooklyn, New York.
