A 27-year-old man has been arrested on an aggravated manslaughter charge in connection with the 2024 death of his 5-week-old baby.

According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, Dajuan Patrick was taken into custody Tuesday by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office on a warrant issued by Volusia County.

VSO says on Dec. 2, 2024, five-week-old Dahlia Siebenhaar was admitted to the hospital unresponsive and with severe injuries. Deputies say she never regained consciousness and was taken off life support on Dec. 12.

Medical and autopsy reports showed Dahlia had sustained extensive head trauma, broken ribs, bruising across her body and retinal hemorrhages due to being shaken and held with extreme force. Her death was later ruled a homicide by a Volusia County Chief Medical Examiner.

Following an investigation that consisted of numerous interviews, medical records and other evidence, it was found that Patrick allegedly shook and spanked Dahlia causing her deadly injuries.

“The arrest in this case won’t bring Dahlia back or give her the childhood she deserved, but today we’re speaking up for her, because her life mattered,” Sheriff Mike Chitwood said.
