ORLANDO, Fla. (CBS12) — If having a stomach ache were a free pass to drive like a rocket, an Orlando woman might have had a case — but police say pain is not a valid excuse for hitting 136 miles per hour on a Florida highway.
According to the Orlando Police Department, officers pulled over a woman on February 16 after clocking her dark-colored BMW at more than double the posted limit — 136 mph in a 60-mph zone.
Body-worn camera video shows the officer approaching the car and asking, “What seems to be the hurry?”
The driver replies, “My stomach really hurts.”

When the officer asks how fast she thinks she was going, the woman says, “I don’t know.” She also couldn’t confidently name the speed limit. Officers then informed her she was driving at dangerous, excessive speeds before placing her under arrest.
Police posted about the traffic stop on Facebook, writing:
“Sorry, your stomach hurting is NOT an excuse to drive 100 mph on our roadways. Slow down, Orlando, or suffer the consequences.”
The department also highlighted Florida’s newly strengthened Super Speeder law — now in effect statewide.

Law enforcement agencies statewide have been reminding drivers that the days of getting off with just a costly citation for triple-digit speeds are over.
Police say the woman’s arrest serves as a reminder that no matter the excuse, hitting extreme speeds on the highway will get you a trip to jail, not the bathroom.
