
DENVER, Co. (WZTV) — A small plane that crashed early Friday, Feb. 13, near the Colorado ski resort community of Steamboat Springs, killing four people, was registered to a Tennessee-based owner, according to federal records.
According to Associated Press, the aircraft, an Epic E1000 single-engine turboprop, went down around 12:20 a.m. on Emerald Mountain, a rugged area across the Yampa River from Steamboat Springs known for hiking and biking trails, authorities said.
Four people were on board, and all four died at the scene, Routt County Coroner Mitch Locke said to Associated Press.
Federal Aviation Administration records show the plane is registered to ALS Aviation LLC in Franklin, Tennessee.
Authorities have not said whether the registered owner was among those on board.
Per the Associated Press, preliminary information from the National Transportation Safety Board indicates the aircraft struck mountainous terrain under unknown circumstances.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are continuing to investigate the crash.
