The FBI announced Monday evening that a Georgia resident was indicted for targeting professional athletes in a massive fraud and sex trafficking scheme.

“Kwamaine Ford, an Atlanta-area resident, was indicted for targeting professional athletes, including NBA and NFL players, in an elaborate phishing, fraud, and sex trafficking scheme,” the FBI Cyber Division announced on X.

They said that Ford got access to many victims’ account and credit card details.

“Dozens of victims’ accounts and credit card details were fraudulently accessed by Ford, who used the information to fund thousands of dollars in personal expenses,” the post continued.

A press release from the FBI says that Ford was convicted of computer fraud and aggravated identity theft in 2019.

“While serving time for stealing credit card numbers from athletes and celebrities to fund his lifestyle, Ford allegedly engaged in the same conduct again,” U.S. Attorney Theodore S. Hertzberg said in a statement. “Disturbingly, the indictment alleges that Ford went even further and used a fraudulent online persona to traffic a young woman and coerce her to produce hidden camera videos of commercial sex acts with unknowing individuals.”

The case is currently being investigated by the FBI.
