WOODFIN, N.C. (WLOS) — North Carolina Gov. Josh Stein was in Woodfin today, where he made an announcement about flood resiliency in Western North Carolina.
“I’m happy to announce that the state has been awarded $6 million in grants to help better protect the state from flooding,” he said, as he stood on the banks of the French Broad River at Riverside Park.

Stein was joined by Kathie Dello, who is the assistant secretary for flood resilience.
Stein broke down where the largest portions of the grants would be going to. They are as follows:
MORE THAN $7.3M IN FUNDING IS GOING TO SUPPORT HELENE-DAMAGED DAMS IN N.C.
The grants are funded by the North Carolina Department of Environment Quality’s Flood Resiliency Blueprint program.
