MINNEAPOLIS (TNND) — A gun that was stolen from an FBI vehicle during a protest in Minneapolis has been recovered, according to the agency.
FBI Director Kash Patel said the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), along with the ATF’s St. Paul Field Division, tracked down the weapon.
“Thank you to our great partners for the outstanding work and support — as well as @TheJusticeDept for the quick action. More to come,” Patel wrote on X Friday night.
The previous night, Patel said a man who allegedly stole federal government property out of the vehicle was arrested. He said the suspect is a member of the Latin Kings gang, who has “a known violent criminal history.”
While Patel did not identify the suspect, multiple media outlets named him as Raul Gutierrez. Patel added that the FBI continues to search for other suspects in connection with the theft.
“There will be more arrests. Again: any individual who attacks law enforcement or vandalizes federal property paid for by hardworking taxpayers will be found and arrested,” Patel wrote on X.
Patel’s original post featured an FBI flyer that included three photos. One of the images appeared to show broken glass on the driver’s seat of the vehicle. Other pictures showed explicit language spray-painted on the vehicles.
Patel said the alleged crimes occurred after DHS announced a federal officer shot an illegal immigrant in the leg because he was attacked with a shovel or broom while the officer was trying to make an arrest.

In a separate case, Patel announced that a suspect was arrested after he smashed windows at the Minneapolis Courthouse during a protest following the deadly shooting of Renee Nicole Good last week. Patel identified the suspect as Georgio James-Jones, of Minneapolis.
