Harris changes Kamala HQ X handle to remove 6-7 reference

Just a day after relaunching her X account Headquarters, which was used to connect with voters during the 2024 campaign cycle, Kamala Harris has tweaked the accounts username from @headquarters67 to @headquarters68.

Harris announced the revamp of Kamala HQ on Thursday and branded the account as “the new Gen-Z led progressive content hub.”

It is unclear if the X account’s revamped handle @headquarters67 was created as a nod to the popular 6-7 meme, which has become a global inside joke for chronically online kids and teens.

However, following the X account’s revamp, commentators were quick to point out and mock Harris for incorporating the numbers in its revamp.

Post Millennial Editor-in-chief Libby Emmons called Harris’ attempt to adopt the younger generation’s jokes as “cringe.”

“The cringe on this is boundless,” Emmons wrote on X. “Kamala Harris teases big announcement but it’s just a social media rebrand to ‘HQ’—and they put ’67’ in the handle.”

CNN’s Dana Bash also commented how Harris’ attempt to reach young voters would probably fall flat.

“By the way, the handle they’re using, you can see there, we’re zooming in on it 6-7, as the kids used to say. Well, you know, used to say a lot of things. And I think they also used to say, that’s probably cringe,” Bash said.

The revamp of Harris’ Headquarters comes as the former vice president’s political future still remains uncertain. She opted out of running for California Governor last July.

Harris is still in the middle of her “107 Days” book tour with more than a dozen stops still scheduled for this year.
