Hey, Patty Murray: Show Me My Money

A Ponzi scheme is an investment scam where the con artist pays returns to early investors using capital collected from newer investors instead of from any legitimate business profit.

It was named after Charles Ponzi, who became infamous for this tactic in 1920.

Just 15 years later, the federal government looked at Ponzi and said, “Hold our beer” before enacting the biggest Ponzi scheme of all: Social Security.

Under that system, the money I pay in taxes goes to pay the Social Security benefits of someone older than me. I won’t see a dime of the money I paid into the system.

And when the whole thing collapses, I won’t get a dime in retirement.

So when politicians like Patty Murray tell me Social Security is my money I want her to cut me a check for my contributions so I can invest it in the private market.

25 years ago, George W. Bush proposed putting 10 percent of my Social Security contributions into the market. That 10 percent would have outperformed the 90 percent managed by the government, and recipients would be getting double their current monthly payouts.

“We can now see that if it had passed, the 10% that went into the markets would have outperformed the 90% the government managed, the program would be solvent, and the average SS recipient would be receiving 2X what they currently receive. The worst bet you’ll ever make is betting on government,” Rule wrote.

By “people,” of course, he means Democrats.

The post reads:

By the time I am 67, over $600,00 will be paid into Social Security on my behalf. That money would have been worth $1.9M if I had gotten a five percent return. My annual interest would be $95K.

The government promises me $3,075/month at 67, which is $37k/year.

How is this not THEFT?

Add in the millions in fraudulent payments given to illegal aliens and dead people, and it’s hard to argue it’s not.

The loss of all that capital is a crime, but Democrats don’t care. They got theirs, after all. If they didn’t make millions trading stocks based on insider information, they cut other lobbying deals and made fortunes

Oh, and they get a cushy pension and lifelong benefits, courtesy of workers like me.

Keeping us poor and dependent on government is the point.

And just you watch, with people relying on 401(k)s, IRAs, and ROTH accounts, some Democrat itching to run on “equality” and balance budgets will soon push to take over these private accounts, too.

After all, it’s not fair some people saved up money for their retirement and others chose not to. Gotta put the government’s thumb on that scale, too.

If it was my money, I could withdraw it at any time and invest it appropriately. If it was my money, I’d be able to stop the wasteful payments to dead people and illegal aliens. I wouldn’t allow the government to raid the funds to pay for their other spending. I can do none of that. I just have to file my taxes like a good little citizen and hope things don’t collapse before I die.

So stop saying it’s my money. It’s not. I will likely never, ever see any Social Security. I know my sons definitely won’t.
