Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem faces House Judiciary questions on ICE tactics

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem returns to Capitol Hill Wednesday for a second consecutive day of testimony, this time appearing before the House Judiciary Committee amid mounting political pressure over immigration enforcement policies.

The hearing comes as Democrats prepare to question Noem on ICE arrests, warrantless enforcement operations, and the Trump administration’s broader mass deportation efforts across the United States.

The hearing is also taking place amid a partial government shutdown that is affecting Homeland Security operations.

Noem’s appearance follows a tense Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Tuesday, where lawmakers sharply divided along party lines. Most Republicans praised her efforts to reverse what they characterize as former President Joe Biden’s failed border policies. However, several senators — including Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., and Democratic members of the committee — pressed Noem on enforcement tactics and oversight concerns.
