Israel to honor Charlie Kirk for his fight against antisemitism

Israel plans to honor the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk for his efforts in combating antisemitism.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said Kirk will be given an award at the International Conference on Combating Antisemitism in Jerusalem, The Associated Press reported.

Kirk, who cofounded Turning Point USA, was assassinated in September at Utah Valley University while holding an event.

“A lion-hearted friend of Israel, he fought the lies and stood tall for Judeo-Christian civilization,” Netanyahu wrote on X the day Kirk was fatally shot. “We lost an incredible human being. His boundless pride in America and his valiant belief in free speech will leave a lasting impact.”

Kirk frequently invoked scripture and prophecy to urge American Christians and conservatives to stand by the country against its enemies.

Less than a month before he was killed, Kirk shared in a social media post that, “Jew hate has no place in civil society. It rots the brain, reject it.”

During an appearance on “The Megyn Kelly Show” last year, he called out people for unfairly criticizing him.

“I have text messages, Megyn, calling me an antisemite. I am learning biblical Hebrew and writing a book on the Shabbat. I honor the Shabbat, literally the Jewish sabbath. I visit Israel and fight for it,” he said.
