Joe Biden, Devout Catholic?

Biden himself also spoke, criticizing the Dobbs ruling and urging people not to give up fighting for more dead unborn children.

It took me a good ten minutes to figure out what Biden was rambling about here. 

“My dad used to tell me whenever I was growing up … my dad would look at me and say ‘Joe, just get up. Get up, Joe,'” Biden said. “Just get up. Get up.”

“This is my message to all of you tonight: it’s no time to give up, it’s time to get up,” he continued. “Fight, vote.”

The rest was drowned out by the crowd and Biden’s incoherent rambling.

Joe Biden is the most high-profile Catholic politician in the nation, after John F. Kennedy. Yet here he is, wrapping up his decades in public office by getting an award from an organization that is diametrically opposed to everything the Catholic Church stands for.

Where are the bishops? Where is the Pope? Why have none of them openly and vocally condemned Joe Biden for his abhorrent behavior in office? Because this goes beyond an award from Planned Parenthood.

During his tenure, Joe Biden oversaw the removal of any and all guardrails to the abortion drug. You can get it by mail, and men have done so to poison their pregnant wives, girlfriends, and mistresses. In Ohio, a surgeon was just given a slap on the wrist for doing so, and Bernie Moreno is trying to correct that wrong.

Yet over the weekend, what was Pope Leo XIV doing? Warning us about the dangers of AI.

And saying God doesn’t hear the prayers of those who go to war. Which is odd, because the Bible is full of times people go to war and pray for God’s guidance.

Since Joe Biden was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 1972, his home diocese of Wilmington has had five bishops, most recently William Edward Koenig. While Vice President and President, Biden had three bishops in the Diocese of Washington, D.C.: Donald Wuerl, Wilton Gregory, and Robert McElroy.

Not one of them — not one — has publicly condemned Joe Biden, a supposed devout Catholic, for his support of abortion. Bishop W. Francis Malooly instead said he would “interact with politicians individually” after Biden was denied Communion in South Carolina back in 2019. Malooly also said he would rather “change the mind and heart” instead of a “public confrontation.”

Bishop William Koenig said he prays for Biden, but would not commit to denying Biden Communion.

But I noticed the bishops were quick to publicly and vocally condemn Catholic Vice President J.D. Vance over illegal immigration enforcement.

Is that because it hurt their bottom line? The Catholic Church gets millions from the government in subsidies to help “resettle migrants” in this country, after all.

But here’s the difference: there is latitude in Catholic teaching on AI, on war, and on immigration. Good people can disagree on all those issues and still be moral in the eyes of the Catholic Church.

Not so with abortion. Catholic teaching forbids it absolutely, explicitly, and strictly. There are no exceptions; there are no loopholes. Procuring an abortion or helping someone to procure an abortion is a mortal sin. Full stop. The punishment is not just eternal damnation, but excommunication from the Catholic Church.

Why have none of them been willing to publicly condemn Joe Biden? To issue a statement that he’s excommunicated from the Church and can only return when he makes a proper confession, does penance, and renounces the decades of abortion support and policies he’s brought down on this nation.

We all know why, of course.

What makes it worse is that Jill Biden is still parading Joe out in public like a funny-looking show dog. When it was clear Ronald Reagan was suffering from dementia, Nancy Reagan made sure he stayed out of the public eye. His last appearance was the 1988 Republican convention. He was protected until his death in 2004. Of course, Nancy loved and respected Ronald. Jill clearly doesn’t give Joe the same treatment, and I don’t foresee a world in which Jill throws herself on Joe’s casket and sobs, “Don’t leave me,” as Nancy did at Reagan’s funeral.

Yes, by supporting abortion, Joe Biden has technically already excommunicated himself from the Catholic Church and is in a state of grave sin.  Receiving Communion in such a state is also a grave sin. For a man with cancer and dementia who is nearing the end of his life, his priest and bishops should be worried about his mortal soul. But rather than risk a “public confrontation,” the bishops hemmed and hawed and failed in their duty to protect not only Biden’s soul, but the souls of every Catholic who thinks abortion is acceptable. And that’s a travesty far beyond even getting an award from Planned Parenthood.
