WASHINGTON (TNND) — Logan Paul is publicly distancing himself from his brother, Jake Paul, following Jake’s call for fans to boycott Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime performance.
In a tweet that quickly went viral, Jake urged followers to turn off the performance, arguing it would “show big corporations they can’t just do whatever they want without consequences.” He referred to Bad Bunny as a “fake American citizen,” adding that he could not support “a fake American citizen performing who publicly hates America.”
Logan responded shortly after, pushing back against his brother’s remarks. “I love my brother but I don’t agree with this,” Logan wrote. “Puerto Ricans are Americans & I’m happy they were given the opportunity to showcase the talent that comes from the island.”
As backlash mounted, Jake attempted to clarify his comments, saying the word “fake” had been misinterpreted. He claimed he was criticizing Bad Bunny’s values and political views, not his Puerto Rican heritage.
Despite the clarification, Jake continued to defend his position, saying, “If you’re publicly criticizing ICE who are doing their job and openly hating on America, I’m going to speak on it. Period.”
Bad Bunny previously spoke out against ICE while accepting the Grammy Award for Best Música Urbana Album a week before the Super Bowl. During his speech, he said, “We’re not savage, we’re not animals, we’re not aliens. We are humans and we are Americans.”
