Man accused of killing mother during fight at Maryland home

A man is facing a homicide charge after police said he killed his mother during a fight in their Laurel home.

Fredy Grijalva-Hernandez, 22, was arrested on Saturday, according to Prince George’s County police.

Officers were called to the home in the 8100 block of Gorman Avenue just before midnight for a welfare check.

Investigators found Maria Hernandez-Gonzalez, 44, badly hurt inside the home.

Officers said they tried to save her, but she ultimately died from her injuries.

Police said the pair were fighting before the woman’s death, but did not say what the dispute was about. They also did not say how the woman was killed.

Grijalva-Hernandez faces a charge of first-degree murder.
