“Every time I try to close my eyes, I just see her face,” said Precious Cody, the dog’s owner. “I adopted her and brought her home. All she wanted to do was cuddle.”
The dog was named Octey, a name that Cody said didn’t quite fit because of her face.
“Yeah, I’m going to name her Bambi because of the ears,” said Cody.
Fast forward to September 2025, Cody said she was arrested on a failure to appear warrant. She then got out of jail a week later.
“That’s when I asked the neighbor across the street, and I was like, ‘Hey, have you seen my dog?’ He was like, ‘Some man came and picked your dog up and said he knew you,'” said Cody.

She said she then filed a police report and checked local shelters for her dog. She had no idea where her dog was at until her phone rang on Feb. 11.
Bambi was microchipped, which helped in locating her.
“That’s when she was like, ‘Hey, sorry to tell you, to break the news, but your dog has been decapitated,'” said Cody.
The discovery of the dog then prompted an hours-long standoff outside of Wade’s home.
“All I want is justice for my dog. An animal is like a child, and Octey, Bambi, was like my child,” said Cody.

Why Wade decapitated the dog is still not known. Cody said she called animal services to see if they knew why.
“All she said was they were going to investigate to see if he was mental or something and doing ‘voodoo.’ [I] don’t know why you would do voodoo on the dog.”
Cody said that she doesn’t know Wade and had never met him before.
