NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WKRC) – A man murdered his girlfriend at a hotel while the pair were on vacation and smuggled the body out of the building by hiding it on a luggage cart.
Bornold Alastair Eberhart, 44, and his girlfriend, Kristen Laymon, 53, left their Georgia home to vacation at the Wyndam Hotel in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on September 22, 2023, according to the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
The couple reportedly left the hotel to go out on the night of September 22, and returned at 1:56 a.m. September 23, as seen on security cameras. When they returned, the pair were arguing until Laymon opened the passenger side door while the vehicle was still moving, got out, and returned to the room, authorities said. Eberhart returned to the room roughly 10 minutes later.
The solicitor’s office noted that the surveillance video of Laymon returning to her room was the last time the woman was seen alive.
Eberhart was seen leaving the hotel on September 24 while wearing a black hoodie and black gloves and pushing a luggage cart, per Law&Crime. Eberhart wrapped Laymon’s body in a sheet and hid it on the luggage cart, eventually moving it to the trunk of his car, where authorities found the victim’s blood.
Eberhart allegedly attempted to cover his crime by texting Laymon’s phone after murdering her, saying in the messages that “he had not seen her since the previous night and that he would have to find a ride back to Georgia if she did not return the vehicle,” per the solicitor’s office.
“Less than 12 hours later, Eberhart can be seen on Wyndam Hotel surveillance rolling Ms. Laymon’s body out of the hotel and putting her body into the trunk of that vehicle,” the office wrote.
Eberhart disposed of Laymon’s body after returning home, and her remains were not discovered for six months despite being reported missing on November 8, 2023.
Eberhart pled guilty to murder on the morning of February 17, 2026 and was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
