SAN ANTONIO, Texas (WKRC) – A man was sentenced to decades in prison after he stabbed his lover’s husband and hid the murder weapon in a bush near his workplace.
According to information from the Bexar County Criminal District Attorney’s Office obtained by Law&Crime, Carl Mott was 61 years old on December 14, 2024 when he approached his lover and her husband, 52-year-old Michael Bowman, at a bus stop.
Mott “had been engaged in a long-standing extramarital relationship” with Bowman’s wife and Mott reportedly assaulted him in the past, according to information obtained by KENS.
Bowman and Mott exchanged words before Mott pulled out a knife and stabbed Bowman in the shoulder. Bowman and his wife ducked into a nearby restaurant to get help for his bleeding, and the pair identified Mott as their attacker when speaking to authorities.
Bowman would later succumb to his injuries and die.
Authorities reportedly obtained security camera video that showed Mott “discarding the knife in bushes near his place of employment approximately 10 minutes after the attack.” He was arrested within 12 hours of the incident.
Mott was convicted of murder and tampering with evidence on January 30, and he was sentenced to 70 years in prison on March 6.
