Marjorie Taylor Greene says Maduro has been critical of Israel unlike his opposition

Georgia GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene said Monday that Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has been critical of Israel while his opposition, Maria Corina Machado, as a major supporter of the country.

“Venezuela is a predominantly Catholic country with very strong laws against abortion with the exception being the life of the mother,” Greene wrote on X Monday.

“Maduro has been critical of Israel calling it a genocide in Gaza and against Zionism.”

She said that Cornia Machado is more left-leaning on abortion and LGBTQ issues.

“Maduro’s opposition, Maria Corina Machado is a strong supporter of Israel and wants to restore strong relations with Israel,” her post continued. “She is more left leaning on abortion and LGBTQ issues.”

She said that the Americans she has talked to don’t believe that the tension between the United States and Venezuela is about drugs and oil tankers.

“People voted in 2024 against foreign intervention and foreign regime change as we have seen far too many times how that’s turned out, it’s not good, and people are so sick of it,” the post concluded.

Over the past few months, the U.S. has been striking alleged drug boats in the Caribbean. This all comes as the Trump administration has said it would go after narcoterrorists.

Greene has been one of the few voices in the GOP critical of Israel and actions its military has taken during the war in Gaza.

“It’s the most truthful and easiest thing to say that Oct. 7 in Israel was horrific and all hostages must be returned, but so is the genocide, humanitarian crisis, and starvation happening in Gaza,” she wrote on X in July.
