Missouri News Reporter Shows Laugher Is the Best Medicine

It has to be hard being a news anchor on television, even local television. Make no mistake, most news anchors deserve every ounce of derision and contempt thrown at them (looking at you, Margaret Brennan and Jen Psaki). But I make a point to attack those clowns for being propagandists and stenographers for the DNC. There’s so much to criticize there that I don’t have to resort to personal attacks about their looks.

But for one anchor in Missouri, she’s turned reading viewer comments into hilarious videos that show laughter is the best way to deal with the rudeness.

Carissa Codel works in Springfield as a morning anchor for both KOLR 10 and Fox 49 (KRBK-TV). Viewers commented on her build and body shape, and instead of playing the victim, Codel decided to read the comments in her anchor voice.

“She looks like the third white chick,” said one commenter. The rest are just as funny.

The news voice is the best part.

“Built for breeding. Tonight at five,” she said.

She even commented on The Odyssey.

“You want Helen of Troy to be able to take a punch.”

That’s the important thing here. Codel is a beautiful woman, and instead of letting the critics get to her, she meets their snark and rudeness with humor and grace.

In a world where people are so quick to play the victim, to demand censorship of people who say things they don’t like, and to run to social media to beg for sympathy, Codel has decided to laugh. It’s not just infectious, but it’s inspirational.
