Nearly 200,000 without power Sunday morning after freeze, according to reports

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — Outage maps for power companies across the state show hundreds of thousands of outages on Sunday morning.

As of 9:30 a.m., more than 198,000 customers are without power according to Nashville Electric Service (NES).

NES says the outages on the map are weather-related. They also say their crews are currently assessing these outages and working as quickly and safely to restore power to customers as soon as possible.

This comes after NES reported Saturday night that it experienced fewer than 50 outages Saturday.

NES said since Friday, crews have been operating in continuous rotations and will remain on extended 14-16 hour shifts throughout the weekend.

If there are outages this weekend, NES says crews will work as safely and efficiently as possible until power is restored for every customer.

NES says they have the following in place:

• 85 bucket trucks prepared and ready
• More than 200 line crews available for deployment
• 1,200 bags of ice melt positioned for use

CEMC – 11,000 without power

MTE – 15,000 without power

CPWS – 6,200 without power
