New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani said during a press conference he doesn’t support how the Iranian regime is treating protesters.

“I absolutely do not support the way the Iranian government has responded to that,” he told reporters after he was asked about Iran, according to Fox News.

He added that the Iranian government should allow protesters to express their political beliefs.

“I think that the Iranian government and every government should respect the right of people to express their political opinions, and for people to be able to do so safely,” Mamdani’s statement continued.

President Donald Trump has recently threatened military action against the Iranian regime if civilians protesting get hanged.

As of now it is reported that about 500 protesters are reported dead due to the regime cracking down on them.

Over the weekend, Trump told reporters on Air Force One that leaders in Iran have reached out to negotiate a deal.

“We may have to act, because of what’s happening, before the meeting,” the president said. “But a meeting is being set up. Iran called. They want to negotiate.”

Anti-Iranian regime protests are sparking in the Middle East country. Iranian currency has tanked while inflation is at 42%.
