No charges to be made against officers that took out Grand Blanc Twp. church attacker

GENESEE COUNTY, Mich. – The Genesee County Prosecutor’s Office says it has declined to prosecute the officers who shot Thomas Jacob Sanford, the man who made a deadly attack on a Grand Blanc Township church in 2025.

According to a letter released by the prosecutor’s office on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, the officers involved in the incident, “… were legally entitled to use deadly force in lawful self-defense or defense of others…”
