
ROCK SPRING, Ga. (WTVC) — A 2 year old boy who was shot on Christmas Day in Rock Spring was injured in an accidental shooting, and authorities say they will not file charges against his parents.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) announced the findings on Wednesday after finishing a review of the incident.
Investigators concluded the shooting was accidental and that no criminal charges would be pursued.

The child was shot a little before 10 a.m. on Christmas at a home on Tarvin Road in Walker County.
He was rushed to a Chattanooga hospital for emergency treatment, and that’s where he remains as of Wednesday.
Authorities previously said three people were inside the home at the time.
Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson said the father of the child left the gun on a nightstand after he got in late on the night of Christmas Eve.
In the days after the incident, the family described the moments following the shooting as devastating.

Deputies and emergency crews emphasized the emotional toll such incidents take on families and responders alike.
Investigators say the case is now closed.
