President Donald Trump will head south on Friday to campaign in Georgia ahead of a highly competitive U.S. Senate race between Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-GA) and Rep. Mike Collins (R-GA).
The Georgia race is rated “Likely Democrat,” but the results will play a key role in who controls the Senate for the second half of Trump’s term. However, the Cook Political Report rates the open gubernatorial race as a “toss-up” between Democrat Keisha Lance Bottoms, the former mayor of Atlanta, and Republican Rick Jackson.
“Today, President Donald J. Trump returns to the Peach State with a proven record of America First results that put Georgia workers, families, seniors, and communities first,” the White House said in a Friday press release.

“Under the leadership of President Trump and Republicans, Georgians are seeing historic tax relief, a surge of private investment and job creation, lower energy costs, support for farmers, the most secure border in a generation, and safer streets,” the statement continued.
After he campaigns in Dalton, Georgia, the president will then head to Florida for a Republican National Committee event on Friday night, and he will be staying at his Mar-a-Lago residence.

On Saturday, he will head to Highland Heights, Kentucky, for a rally, before returning to Florida for a MAGA Inc. meeting and “candlelight dinner,” according to the president’s public schedule. His Kentucky visit comes in the backdrop of the Senate race between Rep. Andy Barr (R-KY) and former State Rep. Charles Booker (D-KY).

The visits wrap up a busy weekend of campaigning for the president, who was away from Washington, D.C. to go to Alaska, Montana, and Arizona to make his case to voters to support Republicans in the midterms. The president has said that he wants Republican voters to “pretend” he is running this November as a way to boost turnout.
“The RNC is delivering election integrity victories across Georgia, holding officials accountable, winning in court, and protecting the ballot box so Georgians can vote with confidence. President Trump is leading the way, and Republicans are securing elections voters can trust,” RNC Election Integrity Communications Director Ally Triolo said in a statement.
