A massive storm left the northeast U.S. covered in blankets of snow on Monday. The storm spanned all the way from Maryland to Maine.

As a result, millions stayed home, schools closed and transportation was impacted.

Most of the northeast was hit with as much as two feet of snow. The National Weather Service categorized the storm as a bomb cyclone, which occurs when a storm’s pressure falls rapidly.

Several northeastern states declared states of emergency, from Delaware to Massachusetts. Along the East Coast, more than 500,000 were left in the dark due to power outages.
