(TNND) β Former Rep. Katie Porter, who entered the California gubernatorial race, appeared on stage on Sunday at the Democratic Party’s 2026 state convention with a sign that read, “F*** Trump.”
“Together, we’re gonna kick Trump’s a** in November. I’ll stand up to Trump and his cronies just like I did in Congress, with or without my whiteboard,” she said while encouraging delegates to repeat the phrase aloud.
“But this election for governor is about more than defeating Trump. We know what Trump is willing to do. Heβs willing to kill people in the streets, to rip away healthcare, and to ruthlessly attack our democracy. But this governor’s race asks us, what are we willing to do, what is California willing to do for our democracy?” Porter continued.
Major national GOP leaders have yet to comment on Porter’s sign, but her temperament has been criticized in the past when two viral videos showed her almost walking out on an interview and yelling at a staffer.
In an interview with The New York Times, Porter admitted to “falling short” and said she could “have been better in those moments.”
Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts recently endorsed Porter for governor.
“From the moment @katieporterca set foot in my consumer law class, I knew that she would be a warrior for working families. Katie will champion the kind of bold, progressive vision that California workers and families deserve, and I’m proud to endorse her for California Governor,” Warren wrote on social media.
Porter has become synonymous with her use of whiteboards during congressional hearings to visually break down complex issues, illustrate numbers and pin down CEOs and government officials during House Oversight and other committee hearings.

She has explained that her approach grew out of her time as a law professor, where using whiteboards helped clarify complex ideas.
