WASHINGTON (TNND) — Pro-Second Amendment groups are calling for a full investigation into the death of Minnesota protester Alex Pretti.
Over the weekend, Pretti was killed by a border patrol officer in Minnesota while protesting the immigration policies of President Donald Trump.
Trump said that his administration is reviewing the incident and border czar Tom Homan is going to Minnesota tonight.
The president criticized Pretti for carrying a gun during the protest and said that local police should have helped protect the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers.
“This is the gunman’s gun, loaded (with two additional full magazines!), and ready to go – What is that all about? Where are the local Police?” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Gun groups, including Gun Owners of America and the National Rifle Association (NRA) called for a full investigation into the incident.
“We are saddened by the loss of life in Minneapolis, Minnesota earlier today during a federal law-enforcement operation,” Gun Owners of America said in a statement.
“Because details remain limited and facts are still emerging, it is essential that @theJusticeDept conduct a complete, transparent, and prompt investigation so the public can fully understand what occurred and maintain confidence in the rule of law.”
The NRA said that everyone should be waiting for a full investigation before jumping to conclusions.
“Responsible public voices should be awaiting a full investigation, not making generalizations and demonizing law-abiding citizens,” the group wrote on X.
