‘Real Socialism’ Was Tried in Venezuela, and It Failed

Real socialism has been tried, and each and every time, it devolves into a fascist state that oppresses and impoverishes the people while a small group of elites lives high off the hog. The latest example of this failed political ideology is Venezuela, where food shortages were so bad that people were reportedly eating family pets and zoo animals.

The Left couches socialism — excuse me, Democratic Socialism — in very dishonest and loving terms. It’s about giving people housing, healthcare, education, and food while taking just a little bit of money from the mega-wealthy. That’s a lie, of course. The wealthy have the means to move their investments, wealth, and income elsewhere, leaving tax receipts lower than they were before. That invariably means those taxes get expanded to the middle class, which is the real enemy of the commies, by the way.

California is doing that, with its supposed billionaire wealth tax. In the body of that legislation, there’s a provision that will allow California Democrats to expand the tax to everyone, including the non-wealthy, whenever they want to without an additional vote. Given that the bill will cost the state at least 100,000 jobs and $28 billion in wages, there are many middle- and working-class Californians who will be slapped with a hefty ‘wealth tax’ sooner rather than later. In fact, in all the tax-the-rich blue states, trillions in wealth has been lost to friendlier tax states.

And now, after untold economic and social destruction has been wrought in Venezuela, the Left wants to bring the same ideology to a nation with 11 times the population. Even ABC News admitted that socialism failed in Venezuela.

Wealth and government connections also influenced the government’s response, with some sites given preferential treatment.

When one collapsed building was teeming with police and military school students, people accurately guessed that officials or politically connected individuals must have lived there. The police officers from a neighboring state were indeed searching for a captain, while the students and a few members of the national guard were hoping to locate a major general.

A telescopic crane, like the one Mundrain needs for the recovery of her family, was parked for several hours in what was that building’s entrance. The relatives of the well-off families who lived in the building were able to rent it. Mundrain cannot.

Socialism fails, and it fails when people need it the most. Two massive quakes rocked the country, and the international community — including the United States — has stepped up to help because the government, rife with corruption, isn’t.

Just a couple of years ago, we saw FEMA refuse to help Trump supporters in Florida at the orders of the Biden administration. Expect more of that if the socialists get their way. The driving reason behind declaring everything from food to housing to schooling a ‘right’ is so they can have the government control it, and thus use the power of the government to reward their friends and punish their enemies.

Don’t believe me? Look at what the Democrats have vowed to do if they regain power: full-blown weaponization of the government against anyone and everyone who supported President Trump. This includes one Democrat proposing a four-year ban on Internet access for Trump voters like yours truly.

Now imagine a Democratic Socialist like Zohran Mamdani is the one who gets to decide if you get chemotherapy for your cancer, if you get to buy a house, if your kids get to attend college. Most of us wouldn’t stand a chance because all those things the Left claimed were ‘rights’ would suddenly no longer be rights, but doled out at the benevolence of the state.

We just celebrated 250 years of freedom and independence from such tyranny, and now we have to gear up to fight for our freedom and independence once again. This time, not from a monarchy an ocean away, but from imported foreign actors who despise America and wish to destroy it.
