Savannah Guthrie posts new plea, says ‘we will pay’ for mother’s safe return

(TNND) — “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie took to Instagram Saturday night with a message for potential kidnappers of her mother, Nancy Guthrie.

“We received your message, and we understand. We beg you now to return our mother to us so that we can celebrate with her,” she said, with her siblings by her side. “This is the only way we will have peace. This is very valuable to us, and we will pay.”

The investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance entered its eighth day on Sunday, with FBI and local police involvement in Arizona. The Saturday night video was the third this week that pleaded with potential kidnappers.

In her video, Savannah Guthrie referenced a message sent to the television station KOLD in Tucson, said a spokesperson for the FBI office in Phoenix. The station was one of multiple outlets to receive alleged ransom letters and at least one made monetary demands.

The outlet said it “is not releasing details of that message out of respect for the family, but we did send it to law enforcement immediately.”

Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance

Authorities said Nancy Guthrie was last seen inside her home in Arizona on Jan. 31. She was reported missing shortly before noon the next day when she did not show up to church.

Police said they have yet to identify a suspect or person of interest in connection with her disappearance. DNA tests showed blood on Guthrie’s front porch was a match to her, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said.

Speaking to reporters on Air Force One on Friday, President Donald Trump said the investigation was going “well,” and there should be more information to come from the Department of Justice or the FBI soon.

“We have some clues that I think are very strong,” Trump said, while on his way to Mar-a-Lago. “We have some things that may be coming out reasonably soon.”

Investigators said they have no proof of life but hope she’s “still out there.” They returned to the scene on Friday to conduct a follow-up search.
