A second pilot has died after a midair helicopter crash in southern New Jersey on Sunday.

Kenneth Kirsch, 65, and Michael Greenberg, 71, were identified by police as the two victims of the crash. Hammonton Police Chief Kevin Friel said Kirsch died after being flown to an area hospital and Greenberg died at the crash site.

“Statements from witnesses had the two helicopters flying close together just before the crash,” the police chief said in a statement. “The crash site was approximately a mile and a half from the airport in a farm field.”

Hammonton Police Department said they received a call on Sunday at around 11:25 a.m. about an aviation crash between two helicopters, with one engulfed in flames.

Officials said police, fire and EMS responded, extinguishing the helicopter that was on fire.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating.
