
FRANKLIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — A U.S. Army soldier died from injuries sustained during a training incident Thursday morning at Letterkenny Army Depot, according to a news release.
A spokesperson from the depot confirmed the soldier sustained injuries at around 9:30 a.m.. He received medical attention on-site before being transferred to WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital.
“Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of one of our own,” Col. Caleb Lewis, the Letterkenny Army Depot commander, said in the release. “This soldier was a valued member of our team, and their service and sacrifice will not be forgotten.”
The incident is under investigation by the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division, according to the release.
No further details will be released to respect the privacy of the family and until next of kin notifications are made, in accordance with Department of War policy.
