Savannah Guthrie, the host of the “Today” show, is asking for prayers to bring her missing 84-year-old mother home after authorities said Monday they believe she was kidnapped, abducted, or taken against her will.

“Thank you for lifting your prayers with ours for our beloved mom, our dearest Nancy, a woman of deep conviction, a good and faithful servant. raise your prayers with us and believe with us that she will be lifted by them in this very moment,” Savannah Guthrie wrote on Instagram. “Bring her home.”

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos explained during a news conference that investigators believe the Tucson-area home is a crime scene. He added that Nancy Guthrie has limited mobility and indicated she did not leave on her own.

“If she’s alive right now, her meds are vital. I can’t stress that enough. It’s been better than 24 hours, and the family tells us if she doesn’t have those meds, it can become fatal,” Nanos told reporters.

Nancy Guthrie was last seen at around 9:30 p.m. Saturday at her home before her family reported her missing on Sunday at about noon, the sheriff said.

Nanos said a family member received a call from the mother’s church, stating she had not shown up for services, before her family searched the home and called 911.

“We don’t see this as a search mission so much as it is a crime scene,” the sheriff said.

Nanos added the evidence inside the home raised immediate concern and led investigators to believe Nancy Guthrie was taken from her home against her will.

Police are collecting digital evidence from the home and surrounding area, including security camera footage, cell phone data and license plate reader information.

Investigators said they are working with state, federal and private-sector partners to analyze potential leads.
