President Donald Trump on Friday said that if Republicans don’t win the midterms, the name “Fort Bragg” will be changed.

Trump addressed military families and members of the military in North Carolina where he touted his administration’s accomplishments and discussed the midterms.

“When I heard they took the name Fort Bragg.I said ’No they didn’t,’” Trump said during his remarks at the North Carolina military base. “They took the name off. We got it back very quickly, but they took it off. And if we don’t win the midterms, they’ll take it off again.”

In 2023, the name Fort Bragg, which was named after a confederate general, was changed to Fort Liberty.

However, after Trump came back into office in 2024, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth changed the name back to Fort Bragg, but it was named after World War II hero Roland L. Bragg.

During his remarks, Trump praised the U.S. military, saying it was the strongest in the world.

“With the help of everyone in this room, America has the strongest military on the face of the earth,” the president said.

Trump also announced that the U.S. would be investing a lot of money to improve on-base housing.

“We’ll also be investing over a billion dollars to improve on-base housing and a lot more than that,” he said.
