WASHINGTON (TNND) — President Donald Trump said Wednesday that the conflict with Iran will be over “soon” as the war has resulted in increased oil prices.
During a phone interview with Axios, Trump said that the war was going great and they are ahead of the timetable.
“We have done more damage than we thought possible, even in the original six-week period,” the president said.
Last month, Israel and the U.S. conducted a joint strike on Iran over concerns that the Middle Eastern country had missiles.
So far, seven U.S. service members have been killed as a result of the conflict and multiple have been injured.
The Pentagon has spent $6.5 billion worth of munitions in the first two days of the attack, according to the Daily Mail.
Gas prices have increased to an average of $3.6 per gallon from $2.9 per gallon before the attack happened.
“Little this and that… any time I want it to end, it will end,” Trump said during the Axios phone call.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said earlier this week that Iran is losing “badly.”

“Iran stands alone and they are badly losing on day 10 of Operation Epic Fury,” Hegseth said during a Pentagon briefing. “Today will be, yet again, our most intense day of strikes inside Iran — the most fighters, the most bombers, the most strikes.”
