WASHINGTON (TNND) — President Donald Trump said Thursday during his first Cabinet meeting of 2026 that zero illegal migrants have come into the country in the last eight months.
“We had zero illegal aliens being admitted into our country for the last eight months,” Trump said.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection put out a report in June of 2025 that said border patrol released zero illegal migrants into the interior of the U.S. which was down 62,000 from May 2024.
This statement from Trump comes after Border Czar Tom Homan took over overseeing operations in Minnesota.
When asked about the deaths of Alex Pretti and Renee Good who were killed by federal officers, he said he would not comment on the investigations until they are over.
“Let the investigation play out and let it go where it goes,” he said. “I’m not going to come out making any comments.”
He said he did have an opinion, but he wasn’t going to share it.
Homan also said Thursday that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was going to shift to targeted operations under his watch.
“We got a lot of them,” Homan said. “We got a lot of them that keep us busy.”
He said that they were not stopping Trump’s mission to deport as many illegal migrants as possible.
“We are not surrendering our mission at all,” he said, according to NBC News. “We are just doing it smarter.”
