WASHINGTON (TNND) — President Donald Trump is set to meet with the Taoiseach of Ireland, Micheál Martin, at the White House on Tuesday morning as part of St. Patrick’s Day events.
The bilateral meeting comes as the Trump administration continues to seek international support for securing the Strait of Hormuz amid the ongoing conflict with Iran. Several European leaders have expressed hesitation about participating in expanded security efforts in the region.
Following the White House meeting, Trump is scheduled to attend a Friends of Ireland luncheon on Capitol Hill hosted by House Speaker Mike Johnson.
The president will also take part in a Shamrock Bowl presentation later in the evening.
