Vance announces new assistant attorney general role to probe Minnesota fraud allegations

WASHINGTON (TNND) — Vice President JD Vance said the Trump administration is creating a new assistant attorney general position who will have nationwide jurisdiction.

Vance shared the news on Thursday amid the fraud cases in Minnesota, noting that the role will focus on the state first before expanding across the country.

During the announcement, Vance also had a few words for Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, as he called Walz a joke.

“His entire administration has been a joke,” Vance said during a media briefing. “He’s a guy who has enabled fraud, and maybe, in fact, has participated in fraud. That’s what this new Assistant Attorney General position is going to find out.”

He added that Walz should resign immediately.

“It’s very clear either that he knew about the fraud in Minneapolis or at the very least, he looked the other way,” Vance said.
