HUNT VALLEY, Md. (TNND) — Vice President JD Vance will visit Minneapolis, where protests against the Trump administration have intensified, to talk about “law and order” on Thursday.
He will deliver a speech in which he claims that the city’s immigrant sanctuary policies have harmed public safety and endangered ICE agents, a White House official told The National News Desk.
Vance will also applaud the agency’s work to remove immigrants from the city who entered the country illegally.
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has defended his state’s immigration policies and opposed federal intervention. He said in a statement last week that the Trump administration was “raining down” chaos, disruption and trauma onto Minneapolis communities.
“Let’s be very, very clear: This long ago stopped being a matter of immigration enforcement.Instead, it’s a campaign of organized brutality against the people of Minnesota by our own federal government,” Walz claimed.
“Last week, that campaign claimed the life of Renee Nicole Good.”
An ICE agent killed Good, a Minneapolis resident, earlier this month during an operation in the city. She was confronting officers about their presence in the area before fleeing in her car. The agency said Good hit the agent with her car as she tried to drive away.
