Baltimore police are asking for the public’s help identifying the suspected gunmen in a double shooting outside Furman Templeton Elementary School on a playground that left an 11-year-old boy hospitalized with multiple gunshot wounds.

The shooting happened Wednesday night on Pennsylvania Avenue and Dolphin Street, at a school playground used during and after school hours. Police said gunfire erupted during a drive-by shooting, with bullets hitting 11-year-old Tristen Goode-Jordan and a 26-year-old man. Investigators believe the man was the intended target. Both victims were taken to the hospital with injuries.

Police released surveillance video Friday showing several individuals jumping out of a white vehicle, dressed in black and pointing guns toward the playground before opening fire. Detectives are asking anyone who recognizes the individuals to come forward.

Tristen remains in the hospital. His grandmother, Michele Goode, said doctors told the family he was shot seven times.

“In the abdomen, his kidney punctured, his lungs punctured. He got shot in the spine and in his foot it’s a bullet still lodged his foot and in his spine,” Goode said.

Speaking Thursday from the hospital, she also described the suspected shooters as “Cowards, cowards,” and said, “It’s just sad, sad.”

The shooting has also renewed concerns about violence involving children in Baltimore. Six children have been shot in Baltimore City over the past two weeks.

A 14-year-old was shot Thursday in southeast Baltimore, less than 24 hours after Tristen was wounded. Investigators said the teen was hit in the side and taken to a local hospital. Police said a person of interest was taken into custody for questioning.

Three teens were shot May 15, including a double shooting at a shopping center in northeast Baltimore. On May 22, a 16-year-old was shot near Herring Run Park, and police said a person of interest was taken into custody in that case.

Back at the playground near Pennsylvania Avenue Friday, Linda Harris, a grandmother who was there with her granddaughter, said the news of children being caught in gunfire was painful.

“Well. Well, it hurts me. It hurts me, because see, our kids are supposed to be our future,” Harris said.

“I just hope (the ones who shot Tristen) get caught…. because that was wrong. Because that little boy is innocent, you know? And you will shoot somebody innocent, he went to play on the playground, and you’re going to shoot him,” she said.
