MARYLAND (WBFF) — Dan Cox has won the Republican nomination for Maryland’s next governor, and will face off with incumbent Wes Moore in November in a rematch for who will lead the state moving forward.
Cox, 51, overtook Republican Ed Hale to win the nomination in the primary election. Rob Krop will run with Cox to become Maryland’s Lieutenant Governor.
In 2022, Cox was unsuccessful at gaining the Republican nomination in the gubernatorial election, and also failed to be elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2024.
According to his campaign website, Cox is a lifelong Marylander, and says he has “has dedicated his career to serving the people of our state.”
Cox laid out his vision Maryland as the following:
Safe neighborhoods where families feel protected and supported
Strong schools that empower parents and prepare students for real world success
A growing economy where small businesses can thrive, and families can afford to stay
A government that respects rights, operates within its limits, and earns the trust of the people it serves
Now, he will face off with Moore, who has served as Maryland’s 63rd governor since 2023.
