Lane closures on East Pratt Street are creating additional traffic congestion in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor as the city prepares for Sail250 festivities expected to attract thousands of visitors downtown this weekend.

Four lanes of East Pratt Street near the intersection with South Street have been closed off with traffic cones, forcing vehicles to merge into a single open lane and a designated bus lane. The closures have slowed traffic near the Baltimore Visitor Center, where Sail250 events are scheduled nearby.

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation did not immediately respond to a request for comment about the lane closures.

Sail250, a celebration marking the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States, began Friday and has already prompted traffic changes and road closures across the city.
