MARYLAND (WBFF) — Maryland’s Green Party has nominated Andy Ellis for Governor and Owen Silverman Andrews for Lieutenant Governor following the party’s nominating primary conducted online from July 8 through July 22, 2026.
Maryland law reserves state taxpayer-funded primary elections for the two “principal” parties, so the Green Party held its own nominating primary, with Green-affiliated voters casting ballots online over the two-week period.

Ellis’ priorities include declaring climate, environment, energy, food and water emergencies to push state and local governments to act with urgency; developing a solidarity economy; investing in people and communities; and building a culture of civic engagement where residents shape decisions through public debate, dialogue and collective action.
“So many people in Maryland are fed up with both parties because they know both parties care more about their donors, national narratives, and party leaders,” Ellis said in a press release. “We look forward to making the case for a politics that puts voters at the center of our work.”

The campaign now turns to the Nov. 3 general election, where the Green Party ticket will face Democratic nominee Wes Moore, Republican nominee Dan Cox and Working-Class Party nominee Cathy White.
